Evanescence last played in Auckland in 2004 to a sellout crowd.

Overwhelming demand for tickets to Evanescence's Auckland show next month have forced organisers to put on a second show.

The second concert is scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, the day before the original St James gig.

Known for their brooding symphonies and Amy Lee's ethereal vocals, the goth rock group last played in Auckland in 2004, to a sellout crowd.

The band's latest album The Open Door debuted at number two on the New Zealand charts in October and remains in the Top 40 today.

Tickets to the second show go on sale next Tuesday, January 30. Tickets will be available from Ticket Direct.
