Effervescent Evanescence |

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee would like to set the record straight ¿ she has not been miserable for the past three years.
In fact, the past 12 months have been the happiest in her life, culminating in her engagement to her mystery boyfriend, Josh, whom she has been dating for a year.
"We knew we were getting married, I just didn't know when he was going to do it or that he had the ring already," she said, showing off the stunning antique diamond and sapphire engagement ring.
During a break in rehearsals for the band's performance on MTV's The Lair this week, Lee said her woes – losing co-founder Ben Moody, a legal battle with their manager and her split with Seether's Shaun Morgan – had been "overdramatised".
"I've gone through a lot of changes to get to where I am now, moving away from bad situations and bad relationships – 2006 was one of the best years of my life," she says.
One of the challenges Lee says she faces every night on her Australian tour is reaching the vocal heights demanded by the songs on their second album, The Open Door.
"They are pretty powerful (vocals) so I have to be good to my voice and do lots of warm-ups. I am definitely stretching it, pushing myself because we play a longer set now."
Lee was excited that the demands of her fans have been heeded by Evanescence's label and Sweet Sacrifice will be released as the next single.
"The fans spoke up loudly," she says.
